Norwich have suffered a setback after Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia decided he is not interested in a move to Carrow Road.

A potential €10m switch was on the horizon for the Italian as Norwich bid to add to their squad in the current transfer window.

There was contact between various agents, which resulted in Ranocchia being sounded out over a transfer.

But according to Tutto Mercato, the Inter defender has let it be known that he is not interested in joining up with Chris Hughton's side.

Ranocchia has also been linked with Chelsea, where Jose Mourinho is believed to appreciate his talents.

The defender has a contract with Inter which is due to expire in the summer of 2015.

Ranocchia landed at Inter in 2011, joining up from fellow Italian outfit Genoa.
