Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is not disappointed that Manchester United crashed out of the League Cup at the semi-final stage, explaining he rates Sunderland as "a very good side".

Pellegrini's men crushed West Ham 9-0 over the two legs of their semi-final tie, but Manchester United could not set up a Manchester derby in the final as they were put out on Sunderland, who won a penalty shootout following the tie being level at 3-3 on aggregate.

A Manchester derby at Wembley had been hugely anticipated. But Pellegrini for one is not concerned about Manchester United's non-progression.

"As far as the Capital One Cup, I’m not disappointed it won’t be a Manchester final", the Chilean said via his club's site.

"Sunderland are a very good side who have now beaten Manchester United and Chelsea so it will be equally hard in the final", Pellegrini added.

Manchester City lock horns with Sunderland at Wembley on 2nd March, however, they will meet the Black Cats before then in a Premier League fixture on 12th February at the Etihad Stadium.
