Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood was delighted after four players made a successful return to action in his side’s 3-0 win over West Ham United in a friendly match yesterday.

Younes Kaboul, Paulinho, Sandro and Jan Vertonghen all started the game at Upton Park, while Harry Kane struck a brace for Spurs.

Paulinho, who played an hour of the match with Kaboul, scored his side’s other goal, while Sandro and Vertonghen featured in the first half.

And Sherwood explained that he was very happy to see the quartet return to action following their time on the sidelines.

The manager further insisted that the returning players will reinforce the strength and depth of his side in a crucial part of the season.

“It is great news to see so many lads returning from injury at such a crucial time", Sherwood told his club’s official site.

"They have come though okay and it’s good to see them get some minutes under their belts. There is nothing like playing.

"With players of this quality coming back to fitness it reinforces the fact that we have strength and depth in the squad. And players with real quality and ability. That’s what I look for.”

Tottenham, who are currently fifth in the Premier League standings with 43 points from 22 games, will next play second-placed Manchester City at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.
