Bayern Munich supremos Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness have saluted the side's return to Bundesliga action following their win away at Borussia Monchengladbach last night.

The Bavarians, in action for the first time since the German winter break ended, scored through Mario Gotze (7th minute) and Thomas Muller (penalty, 53rd minute) to seal the three points for Pep Guardiola's men.

And that went down a treat with the Bayern Munich big wigs.

"We played very well from the first minute until the last minute", explained CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to his club's official site.

"You never know exactly when you'll be in shape after the winter break", chipped in president Hoeness, expressing his delight.

Bayern Munich have now collected 47 points from 17 Bundesliga games and sit ten points clear at the top of the table. They also boast a game in hand over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.

Next up for the Bavarians is an away match against Stuttgart on 29th January.
