Liverpool hold an interest in Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler and could move for the Swiss international before the transfer window slams shut.

The Reds have been hit by injuries in the middle of the park, with Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva currently sidelined.

According to Italian outlet Sportmediaset, Inler is on Liverpool's radar, even if Napoli are reluctant to sell the player this month.

The Reds could test that resolve though by making a tempting offer for the Azzurri, a club with who they have seen their fair share of speculation in recent months, with the Italian outfit interested in defenders Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger.

Liverpool have underwhelmed in the current transfer window and suffered a bitter blow last week when Chelsea gazumped them for Basel winger Mohamed Salah.

Inler joined Napoli in 2011, switching to the club from fellow Serie A side Udinese.
