New Manchester United signing Juan Mata is confident that he can repay the club's faith after they splashed out a record fee to bring him to Old Trafford.

The Premier League champions have paid £37.1m to snap up the Spain international from Chelsea, a figure which means he has to carry around the burden of being the club's record signing.

However, Mata is not letting that little fact concern him and is certain he can soon start to repay his new employers on the pitch.

"I know it is a big price but I'm confident that everything is going to be okay", he explained via his new club's site.

"I will try my best as I always have done.

"The squad and the manager are very good and the fans are unbelievable – we have everything to be successful."

Mata had slipped down the pecking order at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho this season and found himself in and out of the club's starting eleven.

The Spaniard will now look forward to a central role at Manchester United and hope to help David Moyes' men turn around what has been a disappointing season so far.
