Liverpool are still aiming to do business in the current transfer window, manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted.

The Reds look to have lost out on Basel winger Mohamed Salah, who appears set to join Chelsea, though Rodgers is still clinging to hope on that deal.

Beyond Salah though, the Liverpool boss is by no means closing the door on the current transfer window as he bids to bring in new recruits to give the squad a boost.

"The club is still looking for players we can bring in to strengthen the squad", Rodgers told the BBC.

"It is a difficult market in January so we'll see what happens", he added.

Rodgers though also insists he is happy to go with the players currently at the club if no reinforcements can be secured.

"If nothing comes in then the players I have have been outstanding for me this season and we'll enter into the final part of it with confidence if we have the same group of players."
