Lionel Messi has once again been declared off-limits by Barcelona, despite seeing some fantastical offers being lined up, seemingly from Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG were reportedly readying a €250m bid for Messi, after the last few months saw some cracks in the Argentine's relationship with the club.

Messi had hit out at Barcelona board member Javier Faus, who claimed the club were not obliged to offer the forward a new contract.

However, with Barcelona in a period of transition following Sandro Rosell's resignation as president, his successor Josep Maria Bartomeu has vowed to give his all to keep Messi.

"Messi is not for sale," Bartomeu told RAC1. "We want to sit down with his father and his agent [over his renewal].

"He will be the highest-paid [player] because he deserves it. It is not imminent because the players are now focused on the competition."

Messi has had a productive return to football after nearly two months out with injury, though he is on a goalless run of eight games in La Liga.
