Harry Redknapp has denied having any designs on a reunion with Peter Crouch, but admitted Queens Park Rangers are looking to add a defender this month.

QPR have been on the hunt for a striker and, unsurprisingly, have been linked with Redknapp's old charge Crouch, currently plying his trade at Stoke City.

Crouch has previously served Redknapp at Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Portsmouth, racking up nearly 150 games for the manager.

Despite also being linked with the likes of Ishak Belfodil and Paul-Georges Ntep from Europe, QPR's name had cropped up alongside that of Crouch.

However, Redknapp today said at a press conference: "It's unrealistic. He's in the team at Stoke and we haven't made any enquiries for Peter at all.

"It will be good if we can get another striker and we're also looking to maybe bring another defender in.

"Hopefully its not a crazy week [ahead of deadline day]. We have been quite lucky with injuries in the main. But you do need a squad going into the run-in."
