Emanuele Giaccherini will not be breaking his "important contract" with Sunderland anytime soon despite the attentions of Parma and Genoa.

According to the player's agent, Giaccherini has been admired in Italy ever since he left the continent for Sunderland last summer.

Former Juventus man Giaccherini is harbouring hopes of making Italy's World Cup squad, and has been making his case with 17 games in the Premier League this season.

That has only served to enhance speculation about a move, especially with Sunderland facing relegation, but his agent Fulvio Valcareggi denied any such possibility.

"Emanuele is not leaving Sunderland", Valcareggi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"Parma really like Giaccherini; [sporting director Pietro] Leonardi contacted me because [Jonathan] Biabiany could be leaving.

"He has an important contract with the English club which we would like to respect, regardless of numerous offers.

"Genoa also made an enquiry, but I’ll reiterate that the player will remain in the Premier League."
