Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his side will take on Arsenal with belief that they can beat the Gunners in the fifth round of the FA Cup in February.

The Reds booked their place in the next round of the domestic cup competition after beating Bournemouth 2-0 at the weekend.

And Rodgers explained Liverpool will have to defeat good teams like Arsenal if his side want to reach the final of the FA Cup.

The manager, who is aware that Arsenal have to focus on other games during the period, also wants the Merseyside club to concentrate on their own matches before the clash at the Emirates Stadium.

"If you're going to get to a final, you're going to have to beat one or two good sides along the way. Arsenal are obviously a good side", Rodgers told his club's official site.

"They'll have focus on other games as well around that period. For us, we've got a few important games to take on before that.

"But we'll arrive there in the belief that we can win. That's something that, when the time comes, our focus will be to get into the next round."

The teams previously met in a Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season when Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners, with Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey scoring for the Gunners.

And Rodgers acknowledged the fact that Arsenal were the better team that day and that they deserved the three points.

"We weren't at our best that evening – Arsenal deserved to win it", he added.
