Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew does not expect striker Papiss Cisse to leave the club this month despite transfer speculation surrounding the Senegalese hitman.

Cisse has, in recent weeks, been linked with clubs in Germany, Turkey and the Middle East, and with the January transfer window still open, could well be on the move from St. James' Park.

Pardew is aware of the speculation surrounding the former Freiburg man, but feels the Magpies can keep hold of him.

"I don't envisage that Papiss will leave the club in this window", the Newcastle boss told a press conference, via the BBC.

"He's hurt his back actually, so he's going to miss Norwich", he added, ruling Cisse out of today's Premier League game.

"But I do feel that he'll be here."

Cisse joined Newcastle in January 2012, switching from Freiburg for a fee around the £9m mark.
