Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has denied any contact from Manchester City over Blaise Matuidi, and warned of "consequences" should a club attempt a coup.

Manchester City were understood to be offering Matuidi a signing-on fee of €10m to cross the channel, with Chelsea also keen on the midfielder.

The 26-year-old has become a hot topic in Europe in this transfer window as well, following interest last summer, with even Barcelona and Roma believed to be in the mix.

His consistent displays in a PSG shirt have endeared him to Al-Khelaifi though, and the club president has issued a stern message despite Matuidi's contract running out in June.

"They know if they touch one of our players, we will come into conflict with them", he told L'Equipe.

"We respect all clubs, but if a club is trying to recruit one of our players, they will have to bear the consequences.

"It is not just Manchester City [that are interested]. But, from what I know, they have not contacted us for Matuidi."
