Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is confident Toni Kroos will pen an extension at the club despite heavy interest from Manchester United.

Bayern Munich are facing a wage-hike hurdle when attempting to retain Kroos beyond 2015.

The 24-year-old midfielder wants a raise, but Bayern Munich are not keen to have him rise to the same level as the likes of Franck Ribery and Mario Gotze.

That prompted speculation about Manchester United moving in for Kroos, even though they recently added another attacking midfielder in Juan Mata.

However, Rummenigge told Bild: "I hope that we will come to an agreement with Toni. He is a player we basically want to keep happy.

"Now we must see it as entering into a new contract, which, in the final analysis, must be satisfying to both Toni and to FC Bayern."

Kroos' six-plus years at Bayern Munich have yielded 184 apperances in total, while he chipped in with six league goals and eight assists last season despite an injury.
