Liverpool's bid to snap up Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka may have substance after the player's father was quoted as saying that talk of a move on the part of the English club for his son is "true".

The Reds have switched their attention to the FC Dnipro star after missing out on Basel winger Mohamed Salah to Chelsea, and are pushing to get a deal wrapped up before the transfer window slams shut.

Whether that can be done at such short notice remains to be seen, especially as Dnipro are in the midst of fighting for a top two Champions League spot in the Ukrainian Premier League.

But Konoplyanka's father has confirmed there are talks taking place and is under the impression that a switch for his son is possible.
