Besiktas have snapped up Jermaine Jones' services on loan for the remainder of the season after successfully negotiating with Schalke.

The Super Lig club, who revealed they were in talks earlier today, will also enjoy the option to purchase Jones in the summer.

United States international Jones had spent more than six years with Schalke, but was understood to be heading for the exit.

Schalke had already indicated they would not renew the midfielder's contract at the end of 2013/14, and Besiktas have reaped the benefits.

"The Black Eagles have landed German-American midfielder Jermaine Jones on loan from Bundesliga side Schalke 04 with the option to sign him permanently", a Besiktas statement read.

"Jones has previously played for Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and Blackburn Rovers. He has so far made 38 appearances for the US national team, scoring two goals."

The signs of an exit were made clearer for Jones in early January when he was left out of the Schalke squad that travelled to the Middle East for their winter tour.
