Everton manager Roberto Martinez today confirmed John Heitinga had been speaking with Galatasaray about a move, but says that an agreement is far from certain.

Galatasaray were, on Tuesday, understood to have pulled out of the race for Heitinga, who is also linked with Roma this month.

While Martinez admits Heitinga's problems are yet to see a concrete solution, the Dutchman is more than welcome to stay on at Everton.

With a World Cup looming, though, Martinez has called for patience until deadline day ends, telling a press conference today: "He had talks [with Galatasaray, ed.].

"He was given permission to speak to a couple of clubs. That has been the case in the last two days.

"But at the moment, there's been no agreement reached. we'll find out more over the next 48 hours.

"It's very important that, in this window, Johnny finds the right solution from now until till the end of the season.

"If that solution is for him to stay at Everton, then he's someone that we never wanted to lose in the first place."
