Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood believes that Manchester City are currently playing the best football in the world, after his side were thrashed 5-1 by the Citizens last night.

Manchester City have scored a whopping 68 league goals so far this season, a figure that easily surpasses any of those scored by their Premier League rivals.

The 5-1 victory against Tottenham on Wednesday was yet more evidence of how well the team have been playing and the manager on the receiving end of the result has expressed his admiration.

"They are the best team on the planet, certainly the best team in the Premier League. We've played the champions", Sherwood was quoted as saying by the BBC.

Tottenham defender Danny Rose was shown a straight red card in the 50th-minute which delivered a killer blow to Spurs' chances of recovery as the hosts conceded four more goals to end the night on a very disappointing note.

"It was difficult with level numbers, but once we were down to 10 it was over as a spectacle", the Sherwood explained.

Manchester City's win means that they are now placed at the top of the table with 53 points, replacing Arsenal who dropped points against Southampton on Tuesday.
