The news was revealed by the co-chairman David Sullivan's son, Jack, via his Twitter account.

Jack wrote: "Razvan Rat has left the club by mutual agreement.

"We reached a compromise settlement with him."

Rat only joined West Ham last summer, moving to the club after a lengthy spell at Shakhtar Donetsk, which had been a success for the left-back.

The Romanian has struggled to force his way into boss Sam Allardyce's plans though and today's loan signing of Pablo Armero from Napoli appears to have paved the way for his exit.
