Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has called for his side to hold fast to their principals during what may be a bumpy ride in the second half of the season.

The Reds, who sit fourth in the Premier League table, are in the thick of the battle for a top four spot and there are sure to be many twists and turns to come before the season ends in May.

The Welsh midfielder is confident Liverpool can achieve their aims, but feels they must not depart from their principals and game plan.

"When you go into the second half of the season, every game is difficult, especially when teams are down towards the bottom end and they are really scrapping and fighting for every point", Allen explained to LFC TV.

"We've got to make sure we stick to our principles and our game plan and we've got to be confident with the quality that we've got here that we can go out and give everything."

Liverpool are next in action later today when they take on West Brom at the Hawthornes.

It is a game Allen is not taking lightly, despite the Baggies sitting just 17th in the table.

"We will certainly have to be on our toes and they are a team that probably shouldn't be in the position they are, which shows they have got quality to perform on the day", he said.
