Barcelona have chosen to appeal Jordi Alba's red card, picked up against Valencia at the weekend.

The left-back was shown his first yellow card of the evening in the 51st minute, which was then followed by another yellow in the 77th minute, for clashing with an opponent over the ball.

That reduced Barcelona to ten men and played some part in the Catalans losing 3-2 to Valencia at the Camp Nou.

And Barcelona will appeal the decision relating to Alba.

The defeat ensured that Atletico Madrid open up a three-point gap at the top of La Liga.

They are next in action tomorrow against Real Sociedad in a Copa del Rey semi-final first leg clash.
