Ryan Giggs has revealed that Manchester United's players were just as excited at the arrival of Juan Mata at the club as the fans.

Manchester United broke their club-record transfer fee by splashing £37.1m to sign Mata from Chelsea and the Spaniard has instantly slotted into manager David Moyes' starting eleven.

And his arrival spread excitement through the ranks in the dressing room just as it did on the terraces, Giggs has revealed.

"The players are just like the fans", the veteran midfielder told MUTV.

"When they see a quality player come through the door, it gives them that excitement and you feel it around training. It gives everybody a lift.

"He has fitted in well.

"Obviously, we've played against him for the last three years and know the quality he has got.

"He's fitted in straight away and speaks really good English – better English than most of the lads!"
