Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho could been ruled out for up to a month, manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed, as their home record came to an end last night.

The Citizens lost 1-0 to Chelsea, having gone into the game with a few injuries already, including to Sergio Aguero, Samir Nasri and Javi Garcia.

And it had a multiplying effect, with Manchester City failing to score in a home league game for the first time since November 2010.

Still, Pellegrini's side managed a few chances, though Chelsea eventually finished with the double win, having beaten them 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last year.

"Fernandinho has a muscle injury", Pellegrini was quoted by the club website as saying. "We’ll see tomorrow how long he’ll be out for. I think it’ll be a matter of three or four weeks.

"Fernandinho is an important player for us. Not only him, you have to add Aguero, Nasri and Javi Garcia – [James] Milner was not 100% so he couldn’t start, Alvaro Negredo wasn’t 100% either.

"That’s too much of an advantage for an important team like Chelsea.

"We lost today against a good team who played well and I thought we deserved at least a draw but they had the luck to win it."
