Manchester United are aware that a Champions League place is the minimum requirement for the club this season, defender Chris Smalling has revealed.

"We don't really talk [about the Champions League] but we all know if anything that's the minimum we need to aim for", he told his club's site.

"If we can get on a good run, we've got the players – obviously we lost a couple on Saturday [in Phil Jones and Jonny Evans], but we've got a week now until we next play so hopefully we can patch them up and get as many bodies out there as we can."

Manchester United are currently seven points behind fourth-placed Liverpool in the standings, a side they still have to play at Old Trafford on 16th March.
