Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he expects his defensive duo of Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger to be back in action in the Reds’ Premier League fixture against Fulham on Wednesday.

Right-back Johnson has been sidelined since injuring himself in his side’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on 18th January.

On the other hand, Agger last featured for Liverpool in their 2-0 win over Oldham Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup in early January.

The Denmark international was substituted with 10 minutes remaining in the match, and later scans revealed that the centre-back had sustained a calf strain.

And Rodgers, who insisted that he is pleased with the pair’s recovery, explained that tomorrow’s vital clash against Arsenal at Anfield will come too soon for the duo.

"No, they'll not be back for this one, but we're hopeful that next week [they will be back]”, the manager told his club’s official site.

"Glen Johnson is making a great recovery, so there might be a point towards the middle or end of next week [when he can return]. Daniel Agger will hopefully be next week at some stage."

However, the manager further revealed that Mamadou Sakho, who has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury against Chelsea on 29th December, will remain sidelined for “a little bit” longer.

"Sakho is still out for a little bit, but apart from that we will be the same as what we have been for the weekend", he added.
