Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has praised goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for the vital part he played in today's 1-0 win over Everton at White Hart Lane.

In a tight contest, Everton threatened several times in the first half and Lloris produced a series of impressive saves, with a stop from Leon Osman in the eighth minute the pick of the bunch.

That ensured that Spurs could go in level at 0-0 at half-time and, with an improved performance in the second period, an Emmanuel Adebayor goal just after the hour mark ultimately bagged three vital points.

And Sherwood was keen to hand Lloris the praise he deserved.

"It was a slow start again and Hugo kept us in the game", he told Spurs TV.

"The lads all know the game plan but we didn’t apply it well enough in the first half.

"In the second half we put more pressure on the ball higher up the pitch, that put Everton under pressure, we kept the ball better and created chances ourselves.

"The first and second half were chalk and cheese and we’re delighted to come away with a win. They didn’t have a shot in the second half. It’s a massive win for us."

The victory moves Spurs above Everton and into fifth spot in the Premier League, with 47 points from 25 games. Sherwood's men are three behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
