Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris believes that Newcastle have lost their "brain" in Yohan Cabaye.

The France international midfielder, who is a team-mate of Lloris with Les Bleus, swapped Newcastle for Paris Saint-Germain in the recently concluded January transfer window.

The Magpies received a juicy fee for the midfielder, but also lost a key man in the process. That is something Lloris, whose Tottenham side visit Newcastle on Wednesday, is well aware of.

"They lost Cabaye, who was the 'brain' player of Newcastle", the goalkeeper told Spurs TV.

"But they have some other good players, good French players.

"So it will be a hard game, a tough game, but very exciting to play that kind of game."

Lloris was in inspired form for Spurs yesterday as they beat Everton 1-0 to move up to fifth in the Premier League table.

Newcastle meanwhile sit eighth, ten points behind Spurs, and lost 3-0 to Chelsea on Saturday.
