A whole host of clubs sent scouts to watch this evening's clash between Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, with Liverpool and Manchester United amongst those represented in Lisbon.

Benfica, leading the Primeira Liga table, grabbed a 2-0 win against their arch rivals, with goals from Nicolas Gaitan (27th minute) and Enzo Perez (77th minute) proving too much for the visitors to overcome.

Represented in the stands were, according to Benfica's list of those to request places, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, Everton, Levante, Monaco, QPR, PAOK Salonika and West Brom, amongst others.

A number of players linked with moves away from their respective club played in the fixture and are sure to have been on the scouts' watch list.

Benfica fielded defender Ezequiel Garay, long linked with Manchester United, along with goalscorer Gaitan, another player who has seen his name mentioned in connection with the Red Devils.

Young England Under-21 international Eric Dier was fielded by Sporting Lisbon, another player sure to have been of interest.

Benfica now sit top of the league on 39 points from 18 games, while Porto have 39 and Sporting Lisbon 38.
