Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has explained that he has "great belief" in his young squad, ahead of their Premier League contest against Fulham tomorrow.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Jon Flanagan, Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho, who are all under the age of 23, have been in superb form in the present campaign.

They have helped the Reds to currently occupy fourth spot in the Premier League with 50 points from 25 matches.

The youngsters also made their mark in Liverpool’s memorable victories this term, namely, a 5-0 rout of Tottenham Hotspur, a 4-0 win over Everton and a 5-1 demolition of Arsenal.

And Rodgers insists that he is trying to build a squad for the future and that he is happy to help his young charges both on and off the pitch.

"Against Tottenham away from home, in what was deemed to be a pressure game against a rival for the position we are trying to affect, they were brilliant”, the manager explained to his club’s official site.

"In the last couple of games at home, against Everton and Arsenal, we had 19-year-old Raheem Sterling playing wide. Jon Flanagan is 21, Jordan Henderson is 23 and Coutinho is 21, but it's not affecting them because they are concentrating on their performance.

"It's my job to release the pressure from them so that they can play and they can organise their work and feel free to work how we do on a daily basis. We'll just continue along that line.

"I have a great belief in the players here that I have got. And we want to build on that over the coming years. But I take great pride in making people better, both on the field and helping them off the field.”
