Cardiff City have sought permission from Manchester United to play Wilfried Zaha during Saturday's fifth round FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic.

The Welsh club have been struggling to keep their Premier League survival hopes alive and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that the match against Wigan will be a chance to build momentum away from their fight for league survival.

New signings Kenwyne Jones and Fabio da Silva, who are cup-tied, will be unavailable for the match, something which would make Zaha a welcome addition to the squad.

"Fabio played for three minutes against Swansea so he's cup-tied, and Kenwyne scored for Stoke in an earlier round", Solskjaer was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We're just waiting for confirmation from United because I think they want him [Zaha] to play.

"We think it's a formality with Wilfried."

Zaha who featured only twice for the Red Devils in the Premier League this term, was an unused substitute when Manchester United lost 2-1 to Swansea in the third round of the FA Cup.
