Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has adopted a slightly more conciliatory tone towards West Ham boss Sam Allardyce, praising the Hammers' manager for doing a good job at Upton Park.

Following a 0-0 draw between the two teams at Stamford Bridge at the end of January, Mourinho accused Allardyce of instructing his team to play "19th century football".

It was criticism Allardyce laughed off, with the Chelsea game sparking a revival which saw the Hammers win four consecutive Premier League matches and the boss named as Manager of the Month for February.

But rather than continuing his attack on Allardyce, Mourinho has tempered his words and feels the West Ham boss is a worthy recipient of the award.

"I think it's very important for his club not to be relegated", Mourinho told a press conference when asked about his 19th century football comment.

"I think if one club is relegated normally the manager has to look for another job and the club changes its profile.

"I think when the club is fighting for that, I think the point, or the points, are more important than the way you do it.

"So I think he is doing very well."
