Chelsea and Liverpool were amongst sides to send scouts to watch Hoffenheim starlet Roberto Firmino in action against Mainz on Saturday.

The Brazilian grabbed a goal for his side in the 53rd minute, which put them 2-0 up in the Bundesliga contest and seemingly on course for victory.

However, a late collapse saw Mainz run out 4-2 winners, with four goals scored from the 67th minute onwards.

According to German daily Bild, watching on from the stands were representatives from Chelsea, Liverpool, AC Milan, Schalke, Inter and Wolfsburg.

All were there to watch up and coming talent Firmino, but Hoffenheim coach Markus Gisdol has warned suitors off the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

"Not at all [we don’t assume he’s leaving]", said the 44-year-old former Schalke assistant.

"Of course we know the mechanics of the market, but players who have proven themselves and fit into our system well we want to keep here."
