Manchester United defender Rafael has apologised to the club's fans following last night's derby defeat.

Manchester City eased past Manchester United at Old Trafford, running out comfortable 3-0 winners on the evening and completing a league double over their rivals this season.

Manchester United have now lost at home this season to north west rivals Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Rafael insists he is hurting, writing on his Instagram page: "Sorry for our fans I never feel so sad in my life but we will came [sic] back from where we belong."

The defeat was Manchester United's sixth in the Premier League at Old Trafford so far this season and leaves the club floundering in seventh in the table.

They are still involved in the Champions League and are due to play Bayern Munich in the first leg of their quarter-final tie on 1st April.
