Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has insisted that that his side dealt with the pressure of going atop the Premier League table “really well”, following their 4-0 rout of Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

With fellow league contenders Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all dropping points on Saturday, Liverpool knew that they could lead the charts for the first time since Christmas Day if they managed to come out with a positive result against Spurs.

But there were no signs of tension as Brendan Rodgers’ side completely outplayed Tottenham at Anfield to move two points clear at the top of the table.

And Sterling, who put in a man of the match performance against the north Londoners, lauded his team-mates and manager for the sensational win.

Liverpool will next play West Ham United at Upton Park on Sunday before welcoming Manchester City to Anfield a week later.
