Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has called upon his side to hold their nerve in this season's Premier League title race, as they look to secure their first league crown since 1990.

Liverpool sit top of the table at present, with 71 points from 32 games and, with second-placed Manchester City and third-placed Chelsea both still having to visit Anfield this season, the Reds have been made favourites in many quarters.

Lawrenson believes there is much reason for confidence, especially when looking around the Liverpool dressing room. But he feels they must hold their nerve.

"I think it's just about keeping your nerve as much as anything", he told LFC TV.

"I always think when you look around the dressing room and you look at the players that we have, you think 'he'll score, he'll score, he'll make two or three chances'. I think from that point of view, in terms of confidence, it's great for the team."

The former defender also believes that Liverpool and Manchester City, the two sides he feels could win the league, will not win all their remaining games.

"Everyone's saying we can win six games. I don't think either Liverpool or Man City will win all their games between now and the end of the season, I think it's impossible."
