Javier Hernandez has saluted match-winner Juan Mata for his performance in Manchester United's 4-0 win over Newcastle today, feeling the Spaniard has shown how important he will be for the club.

Mata bagged a brace in the romp at St. James' Park, putting in an all-round impressive display which has convinced Hernandez that he is going to be an important asset for the Red Devils.

The Mexican striker, who helped himself to a goal in the game, told MUTV: "It’s unbelievable. You can see that’s going to be a very important player for this club.

"He needed to get used to the way that we play and the way the manager wants us to play.

"In the past games, he did alright but the goal he scored against Aston Villa gave him a lot of confidence and you can see what he is capable of, with assists, with free-kicks and to score goals so he’s a very important, clever player."

Manchester United will have to make do without their club-record £37.1m signing against Bayern Munich next week however, with Mata ineligible for the Champions League due to a prior appearances in the competition with Chelsea.

The win over Newcastle has moved the Red Devils up to sixth in the Premier League standings with 57 points from 33 games.
