Liverpool cannot allow themselves to be affected by what title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City do, boss Brendan Rodgers has explained.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City won their respective Premier League games on Saturday, Jose Mourinho's men even moving above Liverpool to top spot in the process.

But Liverpool responded today, coming through a thorough examination away at West Ham to run out 2-1 winners and reclaim first place.

Rodgers' men have just five matches left to play, with Manchester City due to visit Anfield next weekend. And the Liverpool manager is clear that his team cannot think about their rivals' results.

"It's just about concentrating on our football and how the players have dealt with that has been fantastic", he said via his club's site.

"We'll just keep our focus, keep that concentration.

"It didn't matter that Manchester City or Chelsea won yesterday – it can't affect us.

"We have to control ourselves and our own emotions and get the job done and that was a real tough game today, but we got a great result."

Liverpool now have 74 points from 33 Premier League games.
