Liverpool legend Terry McDermott is convinced that his old club can continue their fine form in the Premier League – but only if they keep their magical trio fit.

Brendan Rodgers' men have won their last nine consecutive Premier League games and sit top of the table with a points haul of 74 from 33 games.

Leading the charge have been captain Steven Gerrard and striking duo Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.

And for McDermott it is absolutely vital the three stay fit for Liverpool's remaining five league games, which includes high-voltage clashes against Manchester City and Chelsea.

The former midfielder told the club's site: "I really do think Liverpool can challenge, but they've got to keep everyone fit; the likes of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge – but the key man for me is Gerrard."

Liverpool are next in action against Manchester City at the weekend, a clash that promises to be vital to determining who clinches the Premier League title this term.
