Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is happy after his side’s 1-0 win over Spanish giants Barcelona in the Champions League, but insists the team need to stay focused on their remaining games.

Having drawn the first leg 1-1 at the Camp Nou last week, the Red and Whites made it to the semi-final of the Champions League by beating the Catalans on an aggregate of 2-1 and will be hoping to continue their momentum in the next round once their opponents are decided by the draw on Friday.

But the Argentine boss is not ready to take things for granted and has urged the players to not get carried away but to stay calm for the upcoming matches.

“I'm happy because we did a good job, the guys had a very good game and this has given us enthusiasm, joy for our fans and the desire to continue working hard”, the 43-year-old told AS.

“We haven't won anything yet, it was an important game but we need to use it to continue improving.

“We need to be calm because there's a long way to go and we know that we have a very tough game coming up. Above all the fans need to enjoy an historic moment because it's not easy to get the semi-finals”, the coach added.

Atletico Madrid are leading La Liga’s table, just one point ahead of reigning champions Barcelona, and three points clear of third-placed Real Madrid, and will be hoping to maintain their position when they take on Getafe on Sunday and Elche the following weekend.
