Tottenham Hotspur and technical director Franco Baldini set to discuss a severance package as the English Premier League club bid to rejig their management structure.

Baldini has come in for his fair share of criticism due to over £100m spent on player purchases last summer, but the club still struggling to qualify for the Champions League.

Tottenham sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas in December as the Portuguese paid the price for poor results, replacing him with Tim Sherwood, who has himself been linked with a summer exit.

Current Holland coach Louis van Gaal is the front-runner to take over and Spurs plan to place more power for player signings in the new boss' hands.

According to Tutto Mercato, Tottenham are poised to discuss a severance package with Baldini, with the likelihood being that the Italian will depart at the end of the season.

Spurs may appoint a successor to the Italian, but he is likely to have less influence over player signings, with instruction on recruitment coming from the manager instead.

Baldini only joined Tottenham last summer, a technical director having been requested by previous boss Villas-Boas.
