Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has reacted to the prospect of facing Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Champions League by saying that the semi-final stage of the competition is always going to be difficult.

Real Madrid will face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions Leagues semi-final tie at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday 22nd April.

Ancelotti has reacted to the tie against Bayern Munich by saying that if Real Madrid want to win the Champions League they need to beat the best teams at some point in the competition, and believes facing Los Blancos will also be a very tough proposition for any team.

“If we want to win the Champions League we have to beat everyone including Bayern Munich”, the Italian told a press conference.

“The semis against Bayern Munich will be very difficult but it's not easy for anyone to play Madrid either."

The Italian also praised Pep Guardiola and the team that he has assembled in Munich.

“Guardiola is one of the best coaches in the world. They have a great team."

Los Meringues failed to beat the Bavarians in the semi-finals of the 2011/12 Champions League season when both clubs won their respective home legs 2-1 and Bayern Munich eventually won the tie 3-1 on penalties and progressed through to the final.
