Liverpool and Manchester City look set to be left disappointed with the news that Keita Balde Diao is closing on a new contract with Lazio.

The attacking sensation has had scouts flocking to the Italian capital to take in his performances this season, with Keita's agent building up the transfer talk of late by remarking his client's future is likely to be in England.




But Lazio are determined to make his English suitors, of which Liverpool and Manchester City are two, wait a little longer, by tying the 19-year-old down to an extended contract in Rome.

"We are very close", the player's agent Ulisse Savini explained to Radio Mana Mana.

"I see no difficulties. We just need to fix a few little things, but in reality it is just down to the paperwork.

"The renewal will be signed after Easter. The deal was never in doubt, it was always a smooth process."

A product of Barcelona's youth system, Keita opted to up sticks and leave the Camp Nou for Lazio in 2011.

The forward has made 20 appearances for Lazio in Serie A this season, scoring four goals and providing a further three assists.
