Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Sergey Rebrov has been appointed caretaker coach of Dynamo Kyiv following Oleh Blokhin's departure yesterday.

Blokhin opted to call time on his reign at the club after a 2-0 home defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk, who lead the Ukrainian Premier League standings.

The 61-year-old had taken over in 2012, however has endured a tough time in charge with no silverware arriving despite an extensive recruitment drive.

Now Dynamo Kyiv have opted to replace Blokhin with Rebrov until the end of the season.

The 39-year-old has served as an assistant coach at the club since 2010, while he also works with the Ukraine national team.

Rebrov enjoyed two spells at Dynamo Kyiv as a player, the first ended in 2000 with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur for £11m.

At international level he won 75 caps for Ukraine, scoring 15 goals.
