Former Manchester United goalkeeper Massimo Taibi believes that Ryan Giggs has all the characteristics required to become a superb manager.

Giggs has been placed in temporary charge at Old Trafford following the sacking of David Moyes yesterday.

While the Welshman is understood not to be under consideration to take over at Manchester United on a permanent basis, he has been strongly tipped as a manager of the club in the future.

And Taibi, who turned out alongside Giggs at Old Trafford between 1999 and 2000, feels sure the Welshman can succeed.

"I had him as a team-mate and despite being young at the time Ryan was already a leader like [David] Beckham, [Teddy] Sheringham and [Paul] Scholes", he told Tutto Mercato.

"In all these years in Manchester he has learned a lot and as a coach I see him doing well. He was very good tactically and had great charisma, the features important for leading a team."
