Ryan Giggs has thanked David Moyes for handing him his first coaching role, insisting he will always remember the gesture.

Moyes took over as Manchester United boss last summer and quickly brought club veteran Giggs onto his coaching staff, while still keeping the midfielder on as a player.

The curtain came down on Moyes' reign on Tuesday, with Giggs handed the managerial reins on an interim basis until the end of the season.

But amid speculation of Moyes having lost the dressing room, Giggs took time out to thank the former Everton boss in his first press conference this morning.

"I thank David for giving me my first chance in coaching. It's something I'll always remember", Giggs said.

"When he rang me in the summer I was still playing, but he gave me the opportunity of my first coaching role."

Now manager, Giggs insists he is not thinking beyond the final four matches of the season, when asked if he wants the job permanently.

"I'm just concentrating on the four games remaining", he said.

"My focus is on Norwich on Saturday. After that, I've not really thought about."
