Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris feels his side have lacked character in important matches in the current campaign.

Spurs, who defeated strugglers Fulham 3-1 last weekend, are currently sixth in the league standings with 63 points from 35 games.

However, Tottenham’s performances against the top teams this season have been woeful to say the least.

The White Hart Lane outfit lost 6-0 and 5-1 to Manchester City and were hammered 5-0 and 4-0 by Liverpool.

Tim Sherwood’s side, who failed to pick up any points against their fierce rivals Arsenal this season, also suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

And Lloris believes Tottenham cannot possibly perform worse against the top teams next term.

"We had a lot of bad defeats. We have to show more character”, the French international was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"It will be difficult to do worse [next season], especially against the top four or five teams.

"We sometimes had the feeling that we gave up this season. In this league you have to be 100% every time. We can't allow this kind of behaviour."

Tottenham will next face 10th-placed Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
