Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his side will take their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea yesterday on the chin and continue to work hard.

Goals from Demba Ba and Willian at Anfield dented the Reds’ Premier League aspirations as they are presently just two points clear at the top of the table with 80 points from 36 games.

Manchester City, who defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 later in the day, are now favourites to win the title because of their superior goal difference.

However Rodgers, who admitted that Liverpool are mightily disappointed after tasting defeat against Chelsea, wants his side to focus on their upcoming league game against Crystal Palace next Monday.

The manager also hailed the Merseyside giants’ performances during their recently concluded run of 11 consecutive Premier League wins.

“We'll now focus on Crystal Palace and see where that takes us”, Rodgers explained to his club’s official site.

"I said how proud I was of them, because they were absolutely fantastic. We've been on a run of games and the games that we've won have been exceptional.

"To lose is obviously a big disappointment, because we haven't had many games that we have lost.

"But we'll take that on the chin; this is a great group of players, a very honest group, and we'll continue to work."
