AS Roma central defender Mehdi Benatia has revealed that the club are looking to be at the level of Bayern Munich and has backed the Bavarians to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.

Roma signed Benatia from Udinese last summer for a transfer fee of €13.5m and the Moroccan penned a five-year contract with the club.




"We are not yet at the level of Bayern Munich. But we want to try to play like them”, he 27-year-old told beIN Sports.

The former Marseille defender admits that Roma manager Rudi Garcia loves watching Bayern Munich and wants his team to emulate the Bavarians.

The Moroccan has backed Chelsea and Bayern Munich to make it to the Champions League final.

"I see a final between Bayern and Chelsea.

“Chelsea has more experience than Atletico Madrid. And if [Franck] Ribery plays as he can play, then Bayern will beat Real Madrid."

Roma are currently second in Serie A on 85 points, with Juventus leading the table on 90 points.
