Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci believes that the Europa League is going to be a "source of pride" for his team.

The Italian league leaders take on Portuguese side Benfica in the semi-final return leg at the Juventus Stadium, Turin.

Even though the Italian side trail Benfica 2-1 from the first leg, Bonucci is confident that his team will be able to turn things around in their favour and set a date for the final at their home.

It has been 18 years since the team last tasted any form of European success and as a result, the urge to win is even stronger, says the former Inter Milan player.

"Since our last European trophy in 1996 we have not been this close to winning a final", the 26-year-old told his club's official site.

"So for us, as I have said, it would be a source of pride.

"And it would return Juventus to being one of the best teams in Europe."

Speaking about their semi-final opponents, Bonucci said: "Any team that gets to this stage of the competition is strong.

"They've shown their individual talent and reached the final last year, risking everything and only losing to a great side like Chelsea.

"I also say that in football, aside from ability, you also need a slice of luck. "
