Borussia Dortmund’s Oliver Kirch is set to be offered a new contract that will replace his existing contract, that expires this summer.

The 31-year-old midfielder joined Dortmund in 2012 from German outfit 1. FC Kaiserslautern, penning a two-year deal.

Since joining Dortmund, Kirch has found it difficult to break into the first team, but injuries to key players have allowed the 31-year-old some game time in the last few weeks.

Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Kirch’s performances and has decided to offer him a new contract.

“There’s no professional who at over the age of 30 has made such a big leap in his performance”, Klopp was quoted as saying by Kicker.

Kirch has made seven appearances for BVB this season in the Bundesliga and has scored a solitary goal. He also clocked up 90 minutes in the Champions League along with appearing in the German Cup on two occasions.
